Objective: This study aimed to compare the awareness of the quality of life by the socio-demographic characteristics and present basic data that could help inform the importance of health and promote concerns about and practice of leading a healthy life.
Methods: The data from 4,778 respondents to EQ-5D (EuroQol-5Dimention) in the fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which met the purpose of this study, were compared and analyzed for the differences in five areas of EQ-5D for the quality of life?mobility, self-care, usual activity, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression?by the socio-demographic characteristics.
Results: Mobility differed statistically significantly by gender, marital status, age, and average monthly income; self-care differed statistically significantly by marital status, age, and average monthly income. Usual activity and pain/discomfort differed statistically significantly by gender, marital status, age, and average monthly income; anxiety/depression differed statistically significantly by marital status, age, and average monthly income.
Conclusion: It is necessary to identify and characterize the common factors significantly affecting the quality of life and develop theoretical and policy-based plans for a higher level of health with the aim of narrowing the gap in health cognition.
